Cannoli discovered in vehicle. Investigation considered complete.
SUMMERVILLE, SC — A local man who entered Pine Barrens Pizza Co. claiming he was “just grabbing one slice” left twenty-two minutes later carrying a full pie, garlic knots, four cannoli, and a Sunday Kitchen family supper capable of feeding six people.
The man’s original plan appeared credible. He approached the counter alone, ordered a cheese slice, and briefly maintained the posture of someone making a quick and disciplined lunch decision.
The situation changed when a fresh Pepperoni & Hot Honey pie came out of the oven. It deteriorated further when he noticed the garlic knots, which had been finished with roasted garlic butter, Romano, and parsley. By the time he asked what was available from the Sunday Kitchen, the outcome was no longer in doubt.
“He came for a slice. He left prepared for Sunday.”
Employees packed a take-home family supper with the calm efficiency of people who had seen this before. Pine Barrens offers rotating after-4 p.m. suppers such as Spaghetti & Meatballs, Chicken Francese, Rigatoni Bolognese, Chicken Parmesan, Shrimp Scampi, Chicken Marsala, and Lasagna Bolognese.
“I was already here,” the man explained, while adding filled-to-order cannoli. Family members later confirmed this was not a complete explanation but accepted it because dinner had been handled.
The incident highlights a recurring condition among customers exposed to hot pizza displays while hungry. Symptoms may include sudden generosity, ordering for people who are not present, and remembering that tomorrow’s lunch also exists.
No one was injured. The original cheese slice was eaten in the parking lot before the man drove home. Authorities described this as proper procedure.
